New Buildings constructed!!

(Add Picture)

Hope Foundation now has 3 new Finished Classrooms at their Primary School and two others in progress.

We are almost finished with the Girls dormitory at the Orphanage. We appreciate the Donations which have been sent from our friends from Sweden for the Girls Dormitory and other local friends who have donated their time and energy to construct these new buildings!

From January 2012 to January 2013.

Construction takes place from February 2012 to January 2013.

Our Volunteers tried to support us in Constructing the Classrooms and now we are moving on.

January 2011

Building work is currently taking place at the school with a new classroom being added on to the existing 2 classrooms, this was funded by money raised by new volunteer Tarryn!

Other current projects are based around improving the site:

  • A separate toilet block for the girls.
  • A washing area with a basin/trough for the children who currently use just a single tap to wash at.
  • Securing a reliable supply of electricity. (A new generator has just been purchased using overseas donations until electricity is affordable)
  • Fitting a water tank and pipe.

Many of these projects are dependant on finding funding.

Other concerns are finding sponsorship for the children who are not able to go to school due to lack of funds and arranging local advertising to attract volunteers.

Volunteers have also helped with the promotion and marketing materials for Hope, designing leaflets and building a website to gain an online presence - the result of which you are reading now!

COMPLETED

A lot of the recent projects that have been completed have been building projects, since 2008 this includes:

  • Two classrooms, offices and storage for the school. (2008)
  • Dormitories for the girls and boys. (2009)
  • A toilet block for the children. (2009)
  • Dining room, kitchen and food storage room. (2009)
  • Purchase of a stove, and new generator from overseas donations(2010)

We have also recycled materials from an old knocked down storage room to build a covered outdoor area for the trainee seamstresses to work and volunteers have painted a mural in the dining room to brighten up the walls!

The Boys dorm built in the Summer of 2009, how it looks in Sept 2010!

FUTURE

The long term future plan is to buy more land and build an orphanage for 70 more children, this would have dormitories, a kitchen, pre school classrooms as well as an area for vocational studies.

Other projects would be for sustainable living; to keep chickens and pigs and grow vegetables to reduce the monthly food bill and perhaps generate an income at the same time.

Also, the possibility of getting involved in cultural tourism programmes to generate visitors and an income from providing lunch or selling handicrafts made by the local community and some of the children.
